Twelve Hearts of a Faithful Man

A clean heart vs. a wicked heart

  1. Purpose: Salvation – John 13:10
  2. God’s work – Psalm 51:10
  3. Daily cleansing by God’s Word – John 15:3
  4. Husbands: cleanse wives by Word – Ephesians 5:26

 

A pure heart vs. a double-minded heart

  1. Purpose: to be in God’s holy presence – Psalm 24:3-4
  2. Purify your hearts – James 4:8
  3. They speak vanity with a double heart – Psalm 12:1-2
  4. Love one another with a pure heart – I Peter 1:22
  5. The pure in heart shall see God – Matthew 5:8

 

A wise heart vs. a foolish heart 

  1. Purpose: for skilled leadership – Exodus 36:2
  2. Requested by Solomon – I Kings 3:12
  3. A wise heart receives commandments – Proverbs 10:8
  4. A wise heart teaches mouth to answer – Proverbs 16:23
  5. Heart of wise in house of mourning – Ecclesiastes 7:4
  6. The wise in heart are called prudent – Proverbs 16:21
  7. The wise in heart bring joy to parents – Proverbs 27:11

 

A broken and contrite heart vs. a hardened heart

  1. Purpose: to draw us closer to God – Isaiah 57:15
  2. God does not despise a broken heart – Psalm 51:17
  3. God is near those of a broken heart – Psalm 34:18
  4. God heals a broken heart – Psalm 147:3
  5. God revives those of a broken heart – Isaiah 57:15

 

A tender (forgiving) heart vs. a bitter heart

  1. Purpose: to be heard by the Lord – II Chronicles 34:27
  2. Be tenderhearted and forgiving – Ephesians 4:32
  3. We must forgive to be forgiven – Mark 11:25

 

A meek and lowly heart vs. a proud heart

  1. Purpose: to be conformed to Christ – Matthew 11:29
  2. The meek will find rest – Matthew 11:29
  3. Meekness: the inner beauty of women – I Peter 3:4
  4. The meek will know God’s will and way – Psalm 25:9
  5. Christ preached salvation to the meek – Isaiah 61:1
  6. The meek increase their joy in the Lord – Isaiah 29:19

 

A circumcised heart vs. a deceitful heart

  1. Purpose: to remove secret impurities – Deuteronomy 10:16
  2. We must expose secrets to God – Jeremiah 4:4
  3. God will circumcise our hearts – Deuteronomy 30:6
  4. Required to seek God with whole heart – Deuteronomy 30:6

 

An enlarged heart vs. a selfish heart

  1. Purpose: to give the world God’s love – John 3:16
  2. God gave Solomon largeness of heart – I Kings 4:29
  3. Allows running in God’s commands – Psalm 119:32

 

A faithful heart vs. a fearful heart

  1. Purpose: to claim great exploits – Nehemiah 9:8
  2. Required to please and serve God – Hebrews 11:6
  3. Faith is enlarged by adding to it – II Peter 1:1-10
  4. Faith is based on God’s rhemas – Romans 10:17

 

A perfect heart vs. a lukewarm heart ( A perfect heart is one from which all idols have been removed.)

  1. Purpose: to show God’s power – II Chronicles 16:9
  2. A perfect heart gives willingly to God – I Chronicles 28:9
  3. David had a perfect heart – Psalm 101:2
  4. A perfect heart walks in God’s statutes and Commandments – I Kings 8:61
  5. Solomon started with a perfect heart – I Chronicles 29:9

 

A sound heart vs. a deceived heart

  1. Purpose: to be right in doctrine and unashamed of the Gospel
  2. Psalm 119:80
  3. A sound heart is life to the flesh – Proverbs 14:30

 

A merry heart vs. a discouraged heart

  1. Purpose: to be joyful to God and others
  2. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine – Proverbs 17:22
  3. A merry heart hath a continual feast – Proverbs 15:15
